My cat peed after neutering. Is a red, bleeding incision normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 5 lbs

My cat just got neutered about 7 or 8 hours ago. We just picked him up from the animal hospital and the person who was monitoring him, told me that he peed himself. I have another cat who also got neutered the same day but when you look at his incision all you can is a red incision, but when you look at the cat who peed itself, its bottom area is completely red and look like they are bleeding. Since my cat peed itself, I was wondering if it was okay to wash it and if the incision site was normal

It certainly doesn't sound like Cookie's incision is normal if the entire area is red and looks like it's bleeding. I would have him seen by a vet right away for this, as I think it's important to have him examined to make sure everything is ok since I can't see him myself. I would not wash the area until Cookie is seen by a vet for a check, and they can let you know if it's safe to wash him or not.
