Why is my recently adopted cat throwing up orange and not eating?

My cat has been throwing up orange/red vile today and has not had an appetite.. I adopted him two days ago so I don't know what it could be. He is not on any medicine either. He is 1 year old. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 6 months old | 9 lbs
