Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 9 days old | 12 lbs
My 3 month Australian Shepard puppy threw up a large amount. We are in the process of switching his food, 1/2 cup three times a day (1/2 new, 1/2 old). When he threw up, the pebbles of food looked very swollen from his water intake during and after eating. While eating he did decide to sit and lay and continue eating until I picked him up. I don’t think he ate anything he shouldn’t have. He is very active and playful and hasn’t thrown up in the last 20mins following, What do I do?

I'm sorry Dakota is ill! You are doing the right thing by switching his food slowly, and he may have eaten too quickly or drank too much water causing him to vomit. I can give you a home remedy to try to see if that helps with the vomiting. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away.
