Dog shaking head, possible ear infection. What can I do at home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My girl keeps shaking her head. Not excessive, more periodically, started last night. Cleaned her ears with warm washcloth. Believe it to be her right ear. No redness, discharge or odor. Can't see anything. Doesn't seem to bother her to touch but when I scratch or rub behind it she leans in against my hand. I live an hr from town and it is Sunday with tomorrow (Monday) being a holiday. If it is an ear infection, is there anything I can do for her until I can get her to the vet on Tuesday?

You can get some Epi-Otic from a pet store, and use that to clean her ears. This is safe to use in dogs. Otherwise, I would make sure she is a comfortable as possible, and have her seen by a vet on Tuesday.
