Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 3 years and 9 months old
I had a cat in Iowa for two years that my mom took care of in Michigan for about a year. While in Michigan he started wheezing and she took him in, and it was determined that he had asthma. They gave him cortisol, and that worked for him. After a year, I brought him home and after about six months I stopped giving him meds. He hasn't shown had any attacks in six months. Why would a cat have asthma in one place and not another?

It's very common for asthma to be affected by environmental factors, as it has a strong allergic component in most cases. So it's not surprising at all that he might do better in one part of the country than another, depending on what types of grasses, pollens, etc. are in the air where he's currently living - similar to humans who have hay fever in some areas, but not others :)
