Pet's info: Dog | Weimaraner | Female | 5 months and 9 days old | 60 lbs
My dog recently got spayed and her face is swelling and she is getting hives. They told me to give her benadryl 1mg per pound she was 60 I gave her 3 25 mg tablets. Is there anything else I can do. The swelling isn't going down and it's been 40 minutes

I would have Lexi seen by a vet immediately if the Benadryl isn't working. The concern with facial swelling is that it could prevent her from breathing, leading to respiratory distress. She may need a stronger drug such as a steroid to stop the reaction. I would have her seen by an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her ASAP.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Sativa! It does appear that her face his swollen and she has hives. These are signs of an allergic reaction, which can be from an insect bite, vaccines, medications for other allergens. Since Benadryl is not working she needs to see your Vet. They will give her a steroid injection and possibly a Benadryl injection. They will likely prescribe a tapering course of steroids as well. I hope this helps and wish Sativa a speedy recovery!
