Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Female | spayed | 12 lbs
I have a 14 yr old Mainecoon who is peeing all over the house. She got a clean bill of health from the vet and I have done everything the blogs, forums and vets have said. My husband wants to put her down put I cannot. Please help!

If your vet did not do a full work-up with blood-work and a urinalysis than I recommend that one is done. She could have a urinary tract infection or a disease that causes cats to urinate more (kidney disease, diabetes, etc.). If your vet did a full work up than you could try Feliway spray or diffuser and see if that helps. Your vet could also prescribe an anti-anxiety medication, like Prozac to see if that helps. Prozac does seem to help a lot of cats that inappropriately urinate. http://www.feliway.com/us/#redirected

Older cat can develop arthritis and have a harder time positioning themselves in the litter box. Additionally, older cats can develop kidney disease,, diabetes and hyperthyroidism (too much thyroid hormones) and have the need to urinate (and drink) more than usual. I suggest an exam by a veterinarian to rule out medical issues. You can also provide a litter box with higher sides or put peepads around the box. Good luck with Tigger.

Yes i stongly recommend you take her for a vet check as this is not normal behavior and is very stressful too both you and misty. The vet may want to run urine or blood tests to investigate fully but they can discuss all options with you
