Is my cat safe climbing our 2-story house roof? What if he falls?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Wirehair | Female | spayed | 24 days old | 9 lbs

My cat likes to get on top of our house. My house is 2 stories, pretty wide and tall. It scares me when he goes up there. Is it safe? If he were to fall off, would he be fine? He's on top every time I have to leave. I get worried when I'm gone

A fall always has the possibility of causing injury, but cats are agile. Ideally, he should be indoors, at least when you aren't home, so that if he does get hurt you'll be there to get him to vet right away. Plus, being outside he has a greater chance of getting into other kinds of trouble, like cars, other animals, spoiled food, rodents that have ingested poisons, just to nae a few.
