My cat is sick with worms, vomiting, and coughing. Can I deworm her?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I can't tell if my cat just has worms, or if she has worms AND a URI on top of that. She has a potbellied appearance, lost weight, dull thinned out hair, and vomits a lot. Her eyes are a little red and watery. She gags/coughs a lot (not sure if she's dry heaving or coughing - sounds kind of like both), and she always vomits after eating. I need to deworm her, but I'm not sure if I should, since she might have a URI (and your not supposed to deworm sick cats apparently) Please helpl, thanks!

With so many complications i recommend you get a full health assessment by your vet in order to identify and prioritize her issues. Working unwell cats needs to be done carefully using mild products carefully calculated for their weight
