My dog's eye is gooey and has been for a while. Should I see a vet?

Poppy's eye seems a bit gooey today and it has been for a while. does she need to go to the vets or will it clear up? Thanks. Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 11 years and 6 months old

Since Poppy has been having this problem for awhile, it would be a good idea to have your vet examine the eye to determine the cause. She could have an infection, dry eye, corneal ulcer/scratch, allergies, etc. Your vet can look at her eye and run some tests, if needed, to help diagnose and then prescribe medications to treat. Hope she gets better soon!
