My dog keeps vomiting on and off for days, what should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 7 months old

My dog has been throwing up on and off for a few days now. He was sick a few hours after eating one night. Was fine the whole next day. The next day he again was sick hours after eating and at night (3-4 times), next day threw up breakfast, then fine. And now tonight he threw up two small kibbles. He had been on the same food with no issues, then when he started getting sick we tried a different kibble, then fasted him and put him on rice/chicken, and now today I put him back on his regularfood

Vomiting can be caused by intestinal parasites, intestinal blockage, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, parvovirus if not fully vaccinated, among other things. Because you've given Nacho a bland diet for a day and he is still vomiting, I recommend you get him in to your veterinarian when they are open. The vet will be able to perform bloodwork and X-rays and figure out why Nacho is vomiting.
