6-month puppy losing molars. Can I feed soft food if she won't eat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cocker Spaniel | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 1 day old

We have a 6 month old Sprocker Spaniel and her back molars are now falling out is this common in a puppy of this age? She has gone off her hard feed so reverting to soft tinned pedigree puppy food is that ok?

Yes, this is normal - the back molars and canine teeth (the "fangs") are the last puppy teeth to be lost, and this occurs around the age of 5-6 months :) If her mouth is a bit sore right now, it's fine to feed her soft canned food instead of dry kibble.
