My cat is in heat and missing. How long do cats in heat disappear?

One of my strays has been missing for 6 days. I'm afraid something has happened to her. How long do cats in heat usually disappear for? Thanks.

6 days is a long time, although it's pretty impossible to predict how long she might be gone for. Usually when they're in heat they come and go, returning home to eat. Hopefully she has come back home by now, but if not I would put signs up in your neighborhood.
