My spayed cat's nipples are crusty with hair loss. Is this serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Bombay | Female | spayed | 4 months and 20 days old | 9.5 lbs

My female cat who was spayed when she was a baby has recently started getting a bit of crust on her nipples and hair loss around them. I'm very worried for her.

She could have a infection or allergic dermatitis. You could bathe her with a medicated cat shampoo and see if that helps. Otherwise, have your vet take a look at her to determine the cause and treat the problem. She may need an antibiotic and/or anti-inflammatory to treat.
