Senior dog can't stand, won't eat, vomiting after arthritis meds. Vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 16 years old | 15 lbs

Hi. 16 year old terrier cross was treated on Friday for arthritis pain with pain jab. Sent home with Tramal twice daily. Now 2 days later can't stand, leaning to one side with head and body, not eating or drinking. Trying to syringe water in but vomited by straight up. Should we get back to vet today (Sunday) or keep him comfortable til tomorrow? Drinking ok yesterday but not eating. So two days not eating, one day not drinking. Thank you - he is our precious baby!

I am so sorry about Dougall. I think it would be best to return to the veterinarian as soon as possible given the symptoms you described. The leaning and inability to stand are concerning for a neurologic condition.
