Red eyes are always an emergency. Red eyes maybe secondary to irritation or injury to the cornea (the clear part of the eye, on the front), irritation to the soft tissues around the eyes (the conjunctiva), problems inside of the eye with the lenses or the retina. Lastly, there coukd be a problem where the pressure in the eyes maybe too high (glaucoma). This a short list kf things that may cause red eyes, other possibilities exist. Your dog should be examined by a veterinarian soon as problems with the eyes can range from minor tonserious. If left untreated, some conditions can lead to loss of vision and prompt diagnosis can prevent this.
