That could be caused by excessive acidity in the gastric environment, building up during the night. You could try to feed her later in the evenings (and eventually earlier in the am) and see if that helps. Should the signs persist despite this remedy, a check up at your local veterinarian would be needed to make sure she is all right otherwise.

Hello, and thanks for using PetCoach. There are many possible causes of vomiting, but with your description of acting completely normal other than vomiting bile in the middle of the night, I would be suspicious of bilious vomiting syndrome. I'll direct you to a thorough answer on a very similar post! https://www.petcoach.co/question/?id=133889 Hope this helps!

Thanks for visiting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. If he is otherwise feeling well and eating well, he may have an acid reflux condition. THis is where the pet builds up too much acid in the stomach when the stomach is empty, causing nausea. I would suggest first getting some baseline bloodwork done at your vet to ensure there are no other underlying causes for this, then once Max's health is clear you can entertain the idea of starting an easily digestible diet, giving smaller more frequent meals (especially a late night meal), and antacids. You should be able to control Max's vomiting with these suggestions above. Best of luck to you and take care.

Hello, I am sorry to hear about Kiwi. Some dogs can experience these signs when they go to bed on an empty stomach. They may feel nauseous due to the bile and acid that is present in their empty stomach. I would recommend continuing to give her a bedtime snack, you may try offering her a larger snack to see if she just needs more food to help settle her stomach. If these signs do not resolve, or Kiwi becomes lethargic or stops eating I would recommend having her evaluated by a veterinarian to look for other possible causes. Hope this helps. Good luck!
