Why is my rabbit's toenail rotten, thick, crumbly, and painful?

Hi, I have a question about one of my Rabbits toe nails. On his back right leg his most outer toe (pinky) is bent to the right and rotten (yellowy white coloured, thick and crumbly) I have tried cutting it short but I think it hurts him and it keeps growing back long, what should I do?

Since you've already tried clipping the nail short and it's grown back, I recommend making an appointment with your vet. There is likely an underlying problem with the nail such as a fungal or bacterial infection that needs to be treated.
