My cat's face is swollen with hives, won't eat. Can I give Benadryl?

Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Male | neutered | 4 years and 6 months old | 11 lbs

My cat has a little swelling under his eye it's gone down since last night ...he's not eating like usual ...he's got these little skin hivesthat pop up ive think he had tyhroid problems but took him to the vet gave him spray and steroid that was to years ago ....now they camback and his cheek is swallon is it OK to give him Benadryl sine I don't have the Prednisone

Unfortunately, by law it is illegal for the experts at Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to recommend to use any drug, including OTC drugs, without seeing the animal in person first. That's because doing so requires a veterinary client patient relationship which cannot be achieved via an internet forum. In addition, the experts cannot say for certain if a specific drug is safe for your cat, or the correct drug for treatment. Based on that, I would say your best option is to take Tiger into the vet now for an exam. This swelling could be due to allergies, but it could also be due to an infection, which Benadryl won't treat. The vet can diagnose what is causing the swelling, and can prescribe treatment for him.
