My cat won't eat after recovering from diarrhea. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9 months and 15 days old

My cat had diarrhea and fever on Friday. Vet gave her medication and she seems to have recovered. She is not eating well and I am failing to tempt her to eat more than a bite or a few biscuits. She is drinking well and not showing any other signs of illness. Should I be worried or is this the after effects of her stomach upset working through her system? Vet said to go back if diarrhea continues but it hasn't so I haven't gone back as yet.

Try adding warm water to her food or warming it slightly before feeding to stimulate her appetite. Sometimes a teaspoon or two of baby food mixed in can jumpstart the appetite as well. If she doesn't begin eating again in a day or two, have her rechecked by your vet.
