Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 13 lbs

10yr lhsapoo vomited after eating a Kirkland green chew treat first it was green and then mainly clear with a little food in it at first now it's clear and it's watery so I withheld water & food for 6 hrs. Will try again with water now. He exercises in a fenced yard & lately eats scat from yorky brother. Usually energetic but now lethargic & no fever. Any suggestions pls?

There's no need to withhold water, Mikey should have access to water at all times, but you did the right thing withholding food. I would continue to withhold food for at least another 6-18 hours, then try a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away.
