My 4-month kitten has orange, mucousy diarrhea after food change?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Wirehair | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 17 days old | 3.7 lbs

4 month old kitten has had about 3 diarrhea cases in the last 4-5 hours. They are very runny, orange and mucousy. I did change her food about 2 weeks ago now and giver her random treats throughout the day. What could this be?

It could be potentially related to diet, but, considering the persistence of the signs, these episodes may be related to parasite infestation or a bacterial infection. I would suggest a check up at your local veterinarian, a fecal sample may be helpful for your vet. If already treated for worms, antibiotics may be needed.
