My hedgehog has a red area on his head spikes. Is it food dye?

Hi I have a hedgehog and he has a red area on his spikes at the top of his head I'm not sure if it's blood but I don't think it is because there is no blood in his cage anywhere the only thing I changed with him recently is his food it's now half commercial hedgehog food and half cat food so I don't know if maybe something in the new food could have been red and got on him. Pet's info: Other | Unknown - Other | Male | 7 months and 18 days old | 2 lbs

Any food coloring could have possibly stained his quills. If he will allow, gently wipe with a moist, soft cloth. If the color comes off then you know it was something external. While you are cleaning him, check for obvious wounds or injury.
