My bird's tail is bobbing. Is it a respiratory infection? Vet needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

How much does a tail has to bob up and down for it to be considered tail bobbing? If my bird has a infection I assume that just like humans it's better to let the immune system do it's job rather then medications immediately, am i correct in assuming this? I spend all of my ''spendable money'' on all the needs off the bird such as the cage, food, toy's, so i only want to let it checked out if i really have to in order for my little friend to survive not just to be sure... i have to eat as well

Any noticeable tail bobbing is considered abnormal and usually indicates a respiratory infection. your assumption is not correct i'm afraid, most birds with respiratory infections will die if it is left untreated, a course of antibiotics is usually a must.
