My new Yorkie puppy isn't eating and is throwing up. What to do?

Hello. I have a almost 1 yr old Yorkie I got two days ago. He's adjusting well to his new home but he's not eating much. I kept him on the same food he's used to but he still has only taken a few bites of food. This morning he threw up twice and so now I'm concerned. What should I do?

Congrats on your new dog! Given that Prince is eating the same food, this vomiting could be due to the stress of living in a new home, or he could have a GI illness, may have eaten something rotten when you weren't looking, or could have a foreign body. You can try a home remedy first before having to take him into the vet. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away.
