My adopted cat has watery, light brown diarrhea. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Male | neutered | 15 lbs

We adopted a male cat from Petco maybe weeks ago. He has been acting normal, and playing with his sister all the time. What scares me is his poop was runny for the first four days we had him. It went away like it normally would. Well just a few minutes ago I noticed that it is like water and almost as light as brown can get. Should I be concerned ? I haven't witched foods or anything. I feed him and my female cat Purina Kit & Kaboodle mixed cat food.

This is definitely a concern, he could be allergic to the food, have worms or suffers from a gastrointestinal infection. offer him boiled boneless chicken and rice every 4-6 hours in small portions. if he is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2-4 days, you can put him back gradually on his normal food. If the diarrhea does not resolve, take him to the vet to get treatment.
