Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Male | neutered | 9 months and 10 days old | 45 lbs
My 9.5 month old golden doodle has been having intermittent diarrhea for about 2 weeks now. I did the 24 hr fast and bland diet of boiled chicken breast with pumpkin purée (we don’t do grain) for 2 days and his poop became solid again. I then mixed in his regular food which is wholehearted grain free brand for a day and now he’s back on that regularly. I always give him a bit of pumpkin purée with his first bowl of the day even before this started but after 2 days it’s getting lose again.

There are several possible causes of diarrhea including food intolerance, parasites, viral or bacterial infection, and stress. I would start by taking a sample of the stool to your veterinarian to have them check for parasites. If everything looks okay, you could try a new food with a protein Griffin hasn't had before, such as rabbit, venison, or fish. Sometimes even switching brands of food can be enough. Continue with the pumpkin as you have been doing. Lastly, a probiotic or yogurt can add some healthy bacteria back to the system. I hope this helps.
