My pregnant stray cat had kittens and disappeared. Is this normal?

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 9 lbs

We have a stray cat that we took in a few months ago. Gradually she was getting bigger. She appeared to be pregnant and in labor yesterday. As of today we have not saw her to come eat. We want to know if this is normal? We have tried to search for her. What else could we do?

It's definitely normal for them to go off somewhere to hide and have their litter. This is often nearby the source of food, so she is likely nearby the house. Assuming that she is OK, she should come back for food in the next day or two. You may be able to watch where she goes after she eats, which may lead you to her kittens. Unfortunately, searching and waiting are your only options right now. These strays are usually quite smart and adapted, so I wouldn't worry too much. I hope that helps and all is well with Peppa and her kittens.
