Pet's info: Dog | Great Pyrenees | Male | neutered | 50 lbs
I have a 10 month old Pyrenees mix and lately I've been having problems with him urinating or defecating in his crate over night. then, drinking it or eating it. I've caught him going to to the crate to pee before but I stop him and take him outside. He does it despite taking him out before bed and even if there is bedding in the crate. I don't know how to manage it when he does it over night or while I'm at work. I've also never heard of this in dogs before, is there anything I can do?

If this is a new behavior I'd recommend seeing your veterinarian to rule out a medical problem like a urinary tract infection first. You should make sure his crate is closed overnight and is only large enough for him to stand up and turn around - a larger crate makes it easier for him to get away if he urinates. I'd also recommend removing all bedding from the crate. You may need to start taking him outside once overnight to help retrain him, and you can gradually make this trip later and later as long as he isn't having accidents. Good luck!
