My dog has a swollen red bump near her anus, getting worse. ER vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hi and thank you for helping us today. I noticed my dog Jasmine has a swollen red bump beside her rectum this morning. It looks like it has gotten worse over the last couple of hours. I scheduled an appt with a vet tomorrow but not sure if I should consider taking her to the vet hospital or not. Am I able to send a picture?

You can send a picture in a consult with an expert, but not in the forum. A swollen red bump next to the rectum could be due an impacted and infected anal sac, and because it's getting bigger, I would take her into a vet hospital now. A bump that is getting worse needs to be seen right away before it bursts.
