Why is my dog vomiting clear mucus with food and odd casings?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bulldog | Male | unneutered | 77 lbs

He's been puking since I got home from work about 4 times. It's a clear mucus but has bits of dog food and noticed like hot dog casings looks like but harder but still thin. I don't feed my dogs anything but dog food as they are very sensitive to food. What could this be? There's nothing in the backyard for him to get and my other three dogs are fine. It seems so weird. What are your thoughts?

Poor Tonka! This could be a foreign body that he is vomiting, or it could be something that was in the backyard that he ate. You can try a home remedy first before having to take him into the vet. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away.
