What's this black lump on my dog's back near his tail he keeps licking?

I can see that Alfie has a small lump, that appears raised and hairless on his skin. This can be an infection, buried tick or healing wound - unfortunately, I am unable to say exactly what this is from a photo. I recommend having Alfie seen by a vet, especially if this is a tick, to have it removed and antibiotics prescribed. In the meantime, you can shave he area if you have a clipper at home and keep it as clean as possible, an E-collar or "cone" can help prevent Alfie from licking the area and causing further trauma. I hope this helps and that all is well with Alfie!
