Considering a rabbit with snuffles? Will it return? Lifelong vet care?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | unneutered

I am looking to adopt a rabbit, however he had been diagnosed with snuffles and has been on antibiotics for two weeks. He is on steroids injections for a further two weeks. If this strain of pastaurella is cured, what are the chances of it coming back? Will he be on antibiotics forever? Will he end up needing a lot of veterinary care? Thanks

He is not likely to be on antibiotics forever but he might suffer from mild symptom of snuffles long term, eventually it might cause a few crisis through his life which will require a course of antibiotics each time. there is also a possibility that he will never have it again after the treatment is done.
