My puppy is biting his penis and it's getting scabby. Is this normal?

I just got a new puppy and he has recently been biting his penis. Its stating to kinda scab up I cant figure out whats wrong

Congrats on your new addition! Alexander may have had some trauma to his penis or an infection. I recommend having it looked at by a vet as soon as possible, as he may need antibiotics. In the meantime, you can get Alexander an E-collar or "cone" to prevent him from biting/licking his penis and causing further trauma.

This presentation could be due to a trauma and localized secondary skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). Dogs bleeding from his penis and seems to be biting one of his paws and it has now become red. What should I do?
Bleeding from the penis indicates a serious problem. In an unneutered dog, it could be a prostate infection, enlargement, or tumor. Some other possibilities include a urinary tract infection, bladder stones, or a systemic bleeding problem (coagulopathy). I suspect that his paw biting is unrelated and may be due to allergies or a hot spot, but he should definitely be seen by a veterinarian to determine the cause of both issues and come up with a good treatment plan. It looks like the hole on top of Buddy's penis is torn and he's licking it-I can't tell if there is discharge and it's a little pink-
Buddy may have injured himself. I recommend getting him seen by a vet as soon as possible for an exam. Don't let him lick it excessively and do more damage to himself, if necessary, get an inflatable e-collar from PetsMart to keep him from being able to reach to lick himself.

My puppy has been biting and licking his penis all day. He has a red sore next to his penis and looks like some spots next to it. He was at the vet for his shots two days ago an exam. He had runny stool as well a little while ago but I don’t know if
I would recommend bringing him back to the veterinarian tomorrow to have them look at it. It looks like this spot may be infection and antibiotics may be required. The soft stool can be from the stress of going to the vet or he may have eaten something he wasn't supposed to and it upset his stomach. Until you can get him to the vet I recommend putting an Elizabethan collar on him. Thank you for using Boop by Petco.

My chorkie pup is 18 months old. His willy looks alittle sore with a tiny sized cut. What can i use on it to make sure it heals with no infection? It's only small but i dont want it to get worse. He's absolutely fine in himself.
Place an e-collar (cone) on Dexter to prevent licking. He may be doing it when you are not looking. That may be enough to allow the spot to heal. Anything topical may get licked or rubbed off. Monitor for redness, discharge, lethargy or difficulty urinating. See your vet if these symptoms develop or if the wound does not heal.

My dog has been licking his penis region a lot lately and I'v noticed a few red splotches in that area. They are not hard lumps but when I touch it my dog immediately starts licking it. What should I do?
It looks like he might have a skin infection. You could bathe him with a medicated dog shampoo and see if that helps. Otherwise, he should be examined by a vet for treatment. He may need an antibiotic, anti-histamine, and a corticosteroid to help. You could also put an E-collar on him to prevent licking.

Causes of licking the prepuce/penis area could be a urinary tract infection, crystals in the urine, stones in the urinary tract, or trauma to the area. It is important that you make an appointment to have Mako seen by your veterinarian as soon as you can to help determine the cause of his behaviour and to start treatment. If you notice him straining to urinate/unable to produce urine, this is a medical emergency and he should be seen by a vet immediately. I recommend you put an e-collar (cone) on him to help prevent him from biting/licking at the area as this may help reduce the risk of infection

Poor Prince! He sounds like he's quite uncomfortable. If he's licking and chewing after he pees then he could have a urinary tract infection, prostate infection or cancer, kidney infection, or bladder stones. The best thing to do is to book him into see your regular veterinarian. They will be able to do an exam, a urinalysis and possibly X-rays or ultrasound to figure out why Prince is so uncomfortable.

My puppy 5 months old has been biting and licking his forskin and now it is swollen and blister like.
That is red and swollen! Rocky will need to see a vet for this. Tonight, put an Ecollar on him to keep him from licking and biting the area. You can make one at home or buy one at a pet store. Have him seen by a vet in the morning.

My puppy has a small little cyst/spot on his penis very close to where he pees from. I think it only came up over night. Is this something I need to act on straight away or just monitor it?
I think its reasonable to monitor it for a few days; if it is not resolving, get him in to see your vet. Also place an Ecollar on him to prevent him from licking at it. If he starts to have any trouble urinating or if the spot is getting bigger, or is appearing more red and inflamed, or it it starts to bleed, take, him in ASAP. Thanks for asking Boop by Petco!
