I brush my poodle. How can I keep her coat tangle-free and beautiful?

Poodles like Chacha typically have curly hair so you have to be careful not to get any snarls or knots in her hair. I would recommend a brush with rubber coated round tips so that it does not scratch her skin. A smaller size is likely better. Keeping her coat trimmed will also help, especially around her mouth and eyes. The brown discharge from the eyes is not unusual and is difficult to get rid of. Some dogs take a supplement called Angel Eye that helps. Sometimes giving them only distilled water helps. And sometimes you do all this and nothing changes! Regularly shampoo around her mouth to keep that area clean. The build up is due to saliva/drool. I hope this helps!

To help the hair coat reach it's potential (you can not change genetics) feed a high quality commercial dog food (no people food), supplement with Omega 3 fish oils, brush the coat daily, deworm regularly if exposed to the outdoors and bath with a moisturizing shampoo as needed. Hello and thank you for contacting Boop by Petco. You should try food supplements containing omega 3. I can recommend Triglyceride Omega by Vetoquinol but there is a wide choice of products on the market. After 3-4 weeks of supplementation you should see improvement.

I recommend giving a fatty acid skin supplement orally to help keep her skin healthy and coat shiny. Fish oil orally will work also. I do not use anything on the skin itself usually unless it's very dry and flaky, then I use a moisturizing grooming spray after a bath with a hypo allergenic shampoo. Hi there and thanks for posting on Boop by Petco! You may want to try the Douxo products, namely Douxo Calm Shampoo which can be purchase through your veterinarian or online pet store retailer. You can also try using a fish oil supplement as well. Fish oil is wonderful for coat and skin health. A fatty acid or oatmeal based formula is most moisturizing. If his coat quality does not improve though, he will need to see a veterinarian. I hope this information helps!
