My dog has seizures, breathing issues, and a tense liver. What to do?

Gizmo needs to see a vet right away, as it is a medical emergency that he's having bad seizures and a hard time breathing. He needs medical attention now for the seizures, which can be caused by tumors, low blood sugar, liver failure, kidney disease, or Cushing's disease among other causes. There is nothing you can do at home to treat him for his seizures, please take him into a vet immediately. It's very hard to tell, he needs to be hospitalized and needs to receive treatment for liver failure, a liver shunt needs to be checked as well, only time will tell if he can be saved or not but this is definitely a very serious condition.

This sounds pretty scary for you to find! Holli could've had a seizure and is still having neurological issues. Also with her breed it could be something called GDV which is when the stomach dilates and rotates on itself. It could also be an issue with her heart. I recommend Holli go see a veterinarian as soon as possible. This is because if it is something like GDV she need surgery tonight. If it is a seizure and she still having issues then she will need medication to bring her out of it.

I am concerned this may be syncope, or collapse due to poor circulation very common in older figs with heart disease. An urgent vet check and assessment for medication is required, keep strictly rested in the meantime

The more seizures a pet has the most sensitive his nervous system is to them. If Bailey is not having rapid breathing then this could be because his other organs are now becoming affected by the seizures. It is best to take him to your vet for a baseline bloodwork screen to ensure he is not anemic, or have any other internal changes caused by the seizures. If he does then he may need treatment. And if his seizures are currently not being controlled and well managed (less than 1 seizure a month, and occurring for less than 2-3 minutes), then it is best to get him on anti-seizure medication for his safety and well-being.

I would highly recommend recording one of these episodes on your phone and showing them to your veterinarian for verification of what exactly these are. If they are seizures, then this is considered an uncontrolled condition if they are happening more than once every 30 days, and Charlie would need to start taking anti-seizure medication to help stabilize his condition and help prevent any permanent brain damage. Seizures are serious and can be a sign of toxin exposure, epilepsy, liver disease or infections. I would recommend seeing your vet for an examination and to discuss diagnostic tests like blood work to help determine what might be causing the seizures. If no underlying cause can be found and the seizures are frequent or severe an anti-epileptic drug might be recommended. Seizures can lead to brain damage if they are not treated.

I think it is more likely that the high temperature was due to the seizures. Their bodies shake so much that it is like they just ran a marathon. The seizures could certainly be brought on by tick disease, but could also be caused by liver or kidney issues, infection, epilepsy, etc. For these types of cases, I usually hospitalize on IV fluids, run a CBC and blood chemistry and urinalysis and tick tests, and monitor for additional seizure activity throughout the day.
