It's hard to tell the size but it looks like it may be a benign wart or growth. It appears to be more on the surface of the skin which is good, and it is well defined. Cats do get malignant skin growths so it is a good idea to have your veterinarian examine it and feel underneath also. They can easily remove this if necessary and do a biopsy. From the pictures, it almost looks like a cyst. WIthout a biopsy or aspirate, I cannot say 100%. I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at it in person to see if it is something that needs to be looked into further. Thank you for using Boop by Petco.

Pets can get many types of lumps and bumps. Most of these tumors will be benign but some will be malignant and you can't tell by looks. The doctor may recommend to aspirate the mass to examine the cells under a microscope. That is one of the best ways to know what it is and if further action is needed. Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. Soft masses that are part of the skin can be either abscesses (pockets of infection), small bits of swelling from vaccine injections (these can last a few months sometimes), fatty masses, and less commonly in a 4 month old kitten, cancers. I would monitor it, if Bean is painful or if it is growing or changing get it looked at right away, otherwise just monitor for now and have it assessed by your vet next time you are in. Hi there! It's hard to tell what's going on exactly from the photo, however, if you've noticed a lump it's a good idea to monitor it for a few days for any signs of an issue or changes to it such as increased swelling, pain, oozing debris, or failing to heal. Lumps can be due to a number of things including scabs/abscesses from other cat scratches, cysts, blisters, allergic reactions, etc. Keeping the spot clean and dry and placing an Elizabethan (cone) collar on Squish as needed may also help it to heal. If the spot worsens, becomes very bothersome, or doesn't seem to be improving, a vet visit in person is best to figure out what exactly the bump is and so that treatment can be provided depending on its cause.
