Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Bane! Since the bumps are scabbed and she is scratching it is likely that Bane has a bacterial skin infection. It could be from fleas, food or environmental allergy. Skin infections are usually treated with antibiotics and something to decrease the scratching (apoquel or prednisone). I would schedule and appointment with your Vet so they can take a look at her skin. You can try a medicated shampoo, bathing her 2-3 times per week and leave the lather on for 10 mins before rinsing. Remember that antibiotics are just to treat the secondary infection and Apoquel to reduce the itch but the allergic component still needs to be addressed for allergies to improve. Based on the fact that this is on the tail, this is most likely due to flea allergy. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing his allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (

The vet will be able to tell more in person. We treat skin infections with oral antibiotics, medicated shampoo and something to stop the scratching. Skin infections can be from allergies to the environment or from her food. I do not think the skin issue is related to the tick you removed but be sure to have her on a good flea and tick preventative. I wish Hannah the best!

This could be due to a localized skin infection or this could be a fungal infection such as ringworm. The vomiting is likely unrelated so I would not worry about that as long as he is improved. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Bo! You are describing a very itchy dog! I think he would benefit by being seen by your Vet. There are many other causes for severe scratching that aren't from fleas or food allergies: allergic reaction, yeast or bacterial infection or scabies (a contagious mite). Your Vet may do a skin scrape to rule out mites Then prescribe something to relieve the scratching, possibly an antibiotic or a medicated shampoo. Good luck!

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Mochi! I am glad you will be bringing him to the Vet! I would worry about mites, either demodex or scabies, ring worm or a bad skin infection. If it is a skin infection the Vet will likely prescribe a medicated shampoo and antibiotics. If he has mites they will prescribe medications. As of now I would just wait for the exam, I would say bathe him but it would be ideal for the Vet to see his skin as is. Try to feed him some boiled chicken or watered down canned puppy food. Hello. What you are describing sounds like a secondary skin infection might be present (the yellow crusts and scabs suggest some pus and therefore bacteria). The underlying cause of the infection could be due to many causes including fleas (some products are not effective so check with your vet if the product you are using is a good one), 'hot spots' which is a skin infection that usually occurs when dogs get wet and then aren't dried properly afterwards, other skin parasites, or other underlying causes that are more rare and severe (immunosuppression, cancer, etc). Either way, it sounds like your dog won't get better without some medications and the spots may spread. I would recommend a visit with your veterinarian to look at the spots as well as get treatment for them. They may discuss performing a skin scraping with you as well.
