My dog stopped vomiting but won't eat. What bland foods help?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 3 days old | 8.818 lbs

What foods are effective for dogs that don't have an appetite for a reason that he had been vomitting (but already stopped after the vet injected him medicine). I am only using syringe in order for him to drink water but he is still not eating. Please help me. Thank you.

I would try to tempt Jacob to eat with some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts. This is a bland diet that can be soothing to his stomach. Soak it with warm water or low sodium chicken broth to get moisture into him. If this doesn't work, I would take him back into the vet as he may need medication to stimulate his appetite. Good luck, I hope this helps and he starts eating soon!

Poor Jake! Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, has diarrhea on the bland diet, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. Boilded chicken and rice or lunch meat turkey is very lean and easy on the stomach to digest. You can also try low fat yogurt or baby food if you need to place some in her mouth to get her interested. You may try pedialyte or gatorade or chicken broth to get her to drink to make sure she does not get dehydrated.

Withhold food for 24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet in small, frequent amounts. Wait at least an hour between feedings. If the vomiting persists, consider a recheck with a different veterinarian. If the vomiting stops, transition slowly to Elizabeth's regular diet. A bland diet can be plain white rice mixed with either cottage cheese, cooked/drained ground beef or boiled boneless/skinless chicken breast.

If he is behaving normally, offer a bland diet in small, frequent amounts. Begin with a tablespoon every hour and gradually increase the amount if there is no vomiting. Serve it warmed or mix in a teaspoon of plain baby food to get him eating. Feed bland until the stool is normal, then transition slowly to a quality puppy food. A bland diet can be plain white rice (cooked) mixed in equal amounts with one of the following: cottage cheese, cooked/drained ground turkey, cooked/drained ground beef or boiled boneless/skinless chicken breasts. Add water or unflavored PediaLyte to make a slurry or gruel. You can leave a bowl of 50/50 water and unflavored PediaLyte for him to drink. If he continues to vomit or will not eat, have him examined by your veterinarian. Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites. Other symptoms that should be addressed by your vet include lethargy, persistent diarrhea or abdominal pain.

When l can feed my dog ,after vomiting? She has vomited for one time?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! I'm sorry to hear Jasy had a vomiting issue. For any GI upset, a bland diet (such as white rice and plain boiled white meat chicken) that is easily digestible is a good option. If chicken isn't an option for her, very lean ground beef browned in a skillet with no oil is another good option. If she continues vomiting, doesn't want to eat or otherwise starts acting ill, then I would recommend having her evaluated by her regular veterinarian. Good luck!

A bland diet can be plain white rice mixed with one of the following: cottage cheese, cooked/drained ground turkey, cooked/drained ground beef or boiled boneless/skinless chicken breasts. Mix rice and the protein source in a 1:1 ratio.

Poor Charlie! It's good that she is drinking water, so she slowly may be feeling better. I would try offering her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day. If she is still refusing to eat by tomorrow morning, then I would take her into a vet right away.
