Why is my dog wobbly and dizzy after taking a deworming pill?

I gave lucy her deworming pill today 5 hours ago.she went to sleep after that and now when she walks I think she is somehow unbalanced and maybe dizzy cause she doesn't walk quite right.can something like this be caused by this pill?

That is not a typical side effect of a deworming treatment, and I would be concerned that something else is causing Lucy to behave this way such as an illness or injury. Keep a close eye on her for now. If this behavior continues over the next 30-60 minutes, gets worse, or she develops other signs such as disorientation, confusion, vomiting, or severe lethargy, take her into a vet right away. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I have seen deworming pills cause an upset tummy: vomit, diarrhea, decreased appetite. It usually resolves in 1-2 days. The pill may not be the cause of why Lucy isn't acting normal. If it has been 2 days since you gave the pill I would have Lucy seen by your Vet to make sure she is ok. Can we do deworming while some other medication is going
Potentially. It depends though on what the other medication is. Dewormers can upset the stomach or cause diarrhea which may decrease the absorption of other medications. It may be best to ask your veterinarian if Lucy should wait to be dewormed until the other medication is finished. Please feel free to post any additional questions.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Maze. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian right away. This is a dramatic response to a dose of deworming medication. If she had a very large parasite load, the dewormer could make her ill as the worms die off. However, most puppies are not as sick as you have described. She could also have another disease that presented at the same time. Regardless, she needs veterinary care. I worry that her blood sugar has dropped low as she is not eating well. This can make a puppy weak and wobbly. I hoep this information helps and you get her feeling better soon.

I recently took my dog to the vet and she drank deworming medicine and she got 3 shots. What can I expect these next few days? I also want to know if it is safe for my family and I to get close to her.
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! For 24-48 hours after her vaccines, she may be tired or sore in the area where the vaccines were given. If you notice shes lethargic, vomiting, or having diarrhea, I would contact the vet that gave the vaccines. The dewormer will kill any intestinal parasites she may have. You may see worms pass in her feces. This is normal. You and your family can be around her. I would recommend cleaning up her stools right away, and washing your hands before eating. Kisses to Lucy!

I have never seen this as a side effect of the Profender but it is safe for cats to lick, as this has been tested by the company and is a common issue. If these symptoms continue, I'd be concerned she is having a seizure or some other issue, or an atypical allergic reaction to the medication, and consider taking her in for an exam.

Maisie was given a heartworm pill earlier today(about 5 hours ago) and she is obsessively licking EVERYTHING. I’ve never seen her like this. Licking her pet bed, the walls, the ground, her lips, etc. Otherwise she seems ok. Is this a side effect?
Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Maisie. It may be she is feeling nauseous. Nausea can be a side effect. I'd keep an eye on her for now. If this behavior doesn't subside in 24 hours, then I'd have her checked out by a vet to be safe. I hope this helps!

Thank you for visiting Boop by Petco. What you describe definitely sounds like tapeworms. I am sorry to hear that Toby sounds like he is having an adverse reaction to the tapeworm medicaiton. This sounds serious. I would highly recommend taking Toby in to your vet to have him treated for an adverse reaction, which includes fluids for flush out his system and and symptomatic treatment. Yes. Any deworming medication has the potential to cause side effects in your puppy or dog. Common side effects from tablets or liquids given to treat gastrointestinal worms include loss of appetite, vomiting, and diarrhea. Some medications, like Ivermectin, should not be administered to particular breeds of dogs. For instance collie breeds experience seizures, muscle twitching, and hypersalivation when treated with Ivermectin. Other deworming medications should not be given to pregnant or lactating dogs or puppies under certain ages. The safest and most effective deworming medications, or wormers, come from your vet or can be obtained with a prescription for your pooch.

Why is my puppy losing balance and looks so weak. We recently found out she had worms. So we gave her 1ml of horse dewormer.
It could be the horse dewormer you gave Silvi. Horse dewormers are not appropriate to give to puppies, and depending on the one you gave her, can contain ingredients that are toxic to puppies. You need to get her into a vet immediately for an exam and treatment, as if she is suffering from a toxicity, there is a potential it could be fatal without treatment. Bring in the horse dewormer as well so the vet can see what you have given her. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Good luck!

Can someone please help me. My 2 weeks old puppy moves like a turtle and I think she is pretty much weak compared to before. It might have happened because of her deworming just this afternoon. I have no vet clinic available right now because of ECQ
I can’t think of a way that this would be related to the most common broad spectrum dewormers that we use but it would help to know what kind exactly. She may have low blood sugar or an infection. It sounds like she was moving better before today, but if not some puppies have abnormal leg muscle formation and it might be something like this (swimmer puppy). If she hasn’t been eating well, if you’ve seen vomiting or if she seems disoriented you should rub some honey on her gums and see if you can find an emergency vet somewhere. Otherwise head to a vet in the morning.
