Is Frontline safe for my older dog with a tiny new puppy around?

Can I use frontline on my older dog with a new puppy in the home? The puppy is 8 weeks and bit only 1.8 pounds. My older dog is 9 and 20 pounds and needs his frontline.

Yes, it is fine to use Frontline on your older dog with Kobi in the home. According to Frontline FAQs on their website, it is safe to use it on the puppy as long as he is eight weeks of age, but given that he is small in weight, to be safe, keep the older dog away from the puppy until the Frontline is completely dried, about 24 hours. You can safely use Frontline spray on the puppy, that is safe to use on puppies as young as two days of age. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Frontline spray is safe to use on puppies as young as two days old. Because it dries rapidly, it's safe to handle the puppies as soon as their coat is dry. It has a very high safety margin, so as long as the puppies are dry, there should be no problem with them licking each other. I would not wipe off the flea treatment, as it will not work. If you are too concerned to use it, then you can give each one a warm bath, and use a flea comb to comb out the fleas. Make sure to dry them thoroughly after the bath. You will also have to disinfect the environment. Wash their bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home.

If the puppy is over 8 weeks of age and you use the correct dosage for their weight, it should be fine. I would keep an eye on them until the application spot is dry just in case they are curious and try to lick.

Hi, sorry to hear about your flea problem. I would not keep the flea collar on him while using a topics such as frontline. Frontline should be good for your flea problem, but it is also important to clean wherever he goes, including his toys and beds. The flea products should be safe at his age. Make sure you don't get any of the shampoo or dip in his eyes and flush them out with some water after you use it to prevent irritation. other than that, it sounds like you're doing everything right. How old does a puppy have to be for fea prevention?
This depends on the flea preventative you intend to use. You can use Frontline Spray in very young puppies as well as the mother. Spot-ons are very concentrated and should not be used in puppies younger than three months old and these puppies need to have an appropriate weight depending on the medication. There are puppy spot ons available. Your vet should have all these available.

I put on one frontline for puppys like 10 ago is it okay to now wash him with anti fleas shampoo.Can he get sick or something.Thanks
I never consider flea shampoo safe to use, so my answer is no, instead if he has fleas i would recommend using one of the followings (which you can use right away): Bravecto, Nexgard, Advantage, Comfortis.

I could not get all the frontline plus on my puppy as he wiggled around so much. Most went on his hair. Help
You can wash the product off his har with Dawn dish soap (it is a grease/oil remover). Then wait 24 hours and apply the Frontline again. If you can't get the topical product on him effectively you may need to switch to an oral product or use a Seresto collar. One Seresto collar lasts up to 8 months. It is very cost effective and easy to use. You didn't mention the age of your puppy so be sure to read all package instructions to make sure products are safe to use on whatever age your puppy is. Yes, Frontline is considered to be safe for use in pregnant female dogs. The active ingredient (fipronil) has never been shown to cause any birth defects or other problems, and it's poorly absorbed into the body in any case so should not affect the developing pups at all :)

My daughter used frontline directly on my yorkshire puppy 6 months and he kept on rolling on the tub till i wash it but he closed his eyes and didnt want to open it ... am very worried ...plz advise
Frontline is safe for puppies that are 6 months of age. You did not clarify if she used Frontline spray or Frontline spot on. If she used Frontline spray and it could have gotten in Fluffy's eyes, then Fluffy needs to see a vet immediately. The spray can cause damage to the eyes and is very painful. If it was Frontline spot on, then I would not expect that to be a problem, but I would be concerned if Fluffy could have gotten soap in his eyes from the bath which is also very irritating and painful and should be treated by a veterinarian in case he has developed corneal ulcerations. What can I do for flea prevention for a 8 week old shih tzu puppy?
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Frontline a topical flea medication and is safe for puppies 8 weeks or older and comes in a 0-22 lb size. Revolution, also a topical, is safe for puppies 6 weeks or older and has a size for under 5 lbs. Personally for a puppy Max's size I would bath in Dawn and manually remove the fleas. If that doesn't solve the problem then I would use Revolution until he weighs more. Also make sure you treat ALL other pets in the house. Once Max gets over 5 lbs there are a lot more option. It depends on the medication. Revolution can be given to puppies as young as six weeks of age, Advantage seven weeks of age, and Frontline Plus eight weeks of age. Frontline spray can be used in puppies as young as two days old. I hope this helps!
