My cat got nail polish in her eye. Is she okay? What should I do?

I got nail polish in the corner of my cats eye, I used a wet rag and a q tip to get the nail polish out of the corner of her eye as much as I could, she is still able to see because she was chasing her laser light and she seems to be fine just blinks her one eye every once in a while, what should I do and do you think she will be okay?

Poor Luna! I would monitor the eye for any redness or discharge. Should you see that, take her into a vet right away. To be safe, if she is still blinking her one eye every once in a while, I would have her seen by a vet on Monday. The eye is a very dedicate and important structure, so you should always have any potential problems with them checked out promptly. Good luck, I hope this helps!

Oh no, poor kitty! Yes, you are right that breathing in nail polish can cause internal harm if it contains acetone. It can cause pulmonary injury from being inhaled, and it would be a good idea to have him checked out by a vet today since he was showing some concerning signs. The vet can diagnose if there is anything to worry about and if he needs treatment or not.

Hello. It sounds like you did a great job cleaning Frances off. Small ingestions like this are rarely harmful or dangerous, so I would not be worried. Just watch for any gastrointestinal upsets like vomiting, diarrhea or a loss of appetite. I really do not expect you to see anything, but it is good to be watchful. My indoor cat recently got out and returned in the middle of the night. She has been sleeping most of the day. When she sleeps, her left eye sometimes rolls to the back of her head. I'm concerned she has some type of injury or infection.

Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Sorry to hear about Jynx. I always treat eye problems as emergencies since the eyes are very special sense organs and injuries/problems with them can deteriorate very quickly. It sounds like she may have scratched or poked the cornea (the outer surface of the eye). If the cornea is damaged, it needs to be treated right away and evaluated for a possible foreign body also. This condition is very painful so that's another to treat right away. Your vet can get a detailed history, do an exam, advise some tests (corneal stain, tear test if needed, measure eye pressure) and then advise a sound treatment plan with follow up appointments as needed. Eye drops, eye ointments, pain medicines, e collars to prevent self trauma to the eye, etc are all possible treatments. Good luck with Jynx.

my cats eye appears to be cloudy. I’m not sure what to do
Cloudiness in the eye can be caused by infection or injury/inflammation. Luna should be physically examined by your veterinarian today. A complete physical and ophthalmic exam may provide a diagnosis. Tear production testing, intraocular pressure testing and staining of the eye may all be done to provide a diagnosis. In the meantime, place an e-collar (cone) on her to prevent rubbing or pawing until she sees the vet.

My dog got scratched by my cat. the lower eye lid got scratched It is red, I don’t see any scratch on the eye itself. Is it ok to take her to the vet tomorrow? What kind of test can I expect they will do, also what symptoms should I be cautious of
Going tomorrow is fine (waiting longer than that isn't) unless Cleo seems uncomfortable tonight. You wouldn't be able to see a scratch on the eye at home, but in the clinic they will likely stain the surface of her eye and look at it with a special light to see if there are any scratches. If you have an e-collar that fits her, putting it on tonight will prevent her from further injuring herself. And if she can't settle, wants to rub at the eye, or you see with the naked eye any changes to the way her eye looks, then I would recommend an ER trip. Good luck! Eyelids are pretty amazing and may have protected her eyeball, but definitely needs checked out tomorrow.

If it looks infected, or she rubs at it, you see redness in the eye, or eye discharge, then I would take her into a vet. I hope this helps!

What a cute kitty! It is possible that she got something in her eye like a piece of dirt or debris that is acting as an irritant, which can cause blinking and increased tear production (just think about if you get something in your eye). A small cut or abrasion on the cornea is also possible as these are not always visible with the naked eye. You can try rinsing her eye well with a sterile eye wash (available at most pet stores). If the blinking and tears continues, I would recommend bringing her into the vet for an exam.

I have a kitten, that is turning one pretty soon. She is extremely young so and I am worried she could be becoming blind, her left eye is fogged up and glossy.
Any eye problem needs to be checked out by a vet promptly, so I recommend taking Luna into the vet first thing in the morning. The vet can diagnose what is causing this cloudiness, and can treat her. Best of luck.
