Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 3.2 lbs
My cat has been diagnosed with diabetes, I'm seeing the vet on Monday , should I consider switching to a diabetic food off the shelf ahead of this appointment ? I'm concerned about starting on insulin and achieving a balance ! Even though I obviously don't have a balance at the moment .

Thanks for the question. I'm sorry to hear Poppy has been diagnosed with diabetes, but I'm glad to hear she is being taken care of. At this point, I wouldn't make changes until you see your veterinarian. Some vets recommend a specific food for diabetic pets, depending on what brands are available in your area, and your vet may even recommend a prescription diet. It can take a little while to get the hang of insulin administration, but most pets tolerate it well. I wish you and Poppy the best and hope she is feeling better soon with treatment.
