Hello, and thank you for your question. It looks like Doobie has caused some trauma to the bald patch from scratching. Possibilities include a skin infection (bacterial or fungal), ear infection, parasites such as mites, or underlying allergies. I would recommend taking Doobie to the vet to pinpoint the underlying cause. They may recommend an ear swab to check for an ear infection, and a skin scraping to check for mites, At minimum, they can prescribe antibiotics and anti-inflammatories to treat the itchiness. In the meantime, I would place an e-collar (cone) on Doobie's head to prevent him from scratching the area further. I hope this helps, and that he feels better soon!

Poor zorro! He could have an ear infection or ear mites that is causing him to scratch that area so much. I would have your vet take a look at him. Your vet will be able to determine why he is scratching so much and start him on the proper meds to make him feel better. There are some over the counter ear mite medicines but most of them don’t work. And there are not any good over the counter ear meds for an infection. You can try 1 teaspoon of children’s Benadryl to help with itching to see if that helps. Yes, the hair will grow back once she stops scratching at that area. If that area is raw, you can put some neosporin on that area twice a day. You can also put a cone collar on her to prevent her from scratching. I hope this helps!
