My cat has a small, reddish bump on its upper lip. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered

For about 7 now my cat has had this little bump on his upper lip that is small and slightly reddish and pink. It doesn't seem painful for him and it hasn't changed in size but it hasn't gone away either. I tried to get the best photos I could and if you zoom in you can see it better. I would like to know if I should be worried or not? Also excuse his goopy eyes, he suffers from chronic cat flu.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I think I see what you are referring to, it is very small like 2mm pink skin growth on the right side by his whiskers? It's hard to say it likely is a skin tag or a sebaceous adenoma. I always recommend any new growth be evaluated by your Vet. You can also monitor it for growth. If it grows then you can discuss removing it. I hope this helps and I wish Oscar the very best!
