Is my single rabbit happy alone, or does he need a second rabbit?

Hi there and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Usually aggression in our pets can be altered a bit by removing excess testosterone with neutering. While it is not impossible he is lonely-likely he is frustrated with the removal of his mates each time. Neutering may help with his need for female attention as well as curbing unwanted aggression due to excess testosterone. I hope this helps!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! While it isn’t an issue to have a male and female bunny, I would strongly recommend staying and neutering them prior to introducing them, especially if they are old enough to reproduce.

Rabbit bonding is more based on the rabbit and who they like then on female/ male status or neutered or intact status. Some bunnies bond well and some don’t. I think considering a bonding mate for her would be a great idea. Just go slow with introductions and be ready to take bunny #2 back if they don’t like each other. Rabbits usually do not love cages. I recommend placing a top on the cage to prevent this behavior. If Oliver is inside your house you can actually litter box train him and use a small pin to keep him in for now. Sometimes bunnies like partners but other times they really like to be alone. I would not recommend getting another bunny until oliver is settled in to him new environment.

Hello. There are just so many sites that can give you very good information on rabbit care. I would recommend a veterinary visit just to check your new friend over & make sure he/she is healthy, check the sex & make sure Licorice has been neutered. Rabbits need quite a bit of room to move around, a litter box that is cleaned daily, access to fresh water & good quality hay ( preferably Timothy ). Rabbit pellets should only make up 10-20% of her total diet, very limited fruits, but she should have daily access to fresh greens. Good luck with your new pet & thanks for contacting Boop by Petco.

Try to get to see the rabbit you are choosing for a bit so that you can make sure that he is social and interactive. Hello. Your bunnies are adorable! It’s good that they are spayed and neutered, as this should help your efforts to bond them. I’d recommend to give them ample space to retreat and feel safe when they’re together and always supervise them during the transition until the relationship is more secure. One way to start the process would be to feed each rabbit on either side of a baby gate or other divider that allows them to sniff and see each other. Provide ample hay, greens and pellets on each side of the gate so they’re spending a good amount of time near each other as they eat. After several days to a week of peaceful eating, remove the gate but keep the food the same. Monitor them closely during this time for signs of fear or aggression and separate them quickly if you see this. If there is a favorite treat, only give that out when they’re together so there is a positive association of being with the other rabbit. However, just like people, rabbits are individuals and may not get along

Hello. I would definitely consider neutering Bun Bun in case this is testosterone/sexually based aggression. If so, his attitude should improve over the next 4 weeks. This could also be aggression based on resource protection. Some rabbits become a bit aggressive when an owner is changing food or even putting out fresh hay or treats. A rabbit can perceive this as a threat to his "stash". But the easiest thing to do is neuter him, & of course, never reinforce his aggressive behavior ( some people will see this as cute & funny & inadvertently cheer the behavior on ). I am sorry for your loss. I would recommend just making sure she has enough to play with and interactions with you. Not all rabbit pair bond well. So it is possible if you get a new rabbit rica might not get along with it. Rabbits like to play and interact These are important to prevent behavioral issues. Hope that helps
