Is my single rabbit happy alone, or does he need a second rabbit?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | unneutered

My rabbit is a single rabbit, I've been told that I "have to get a second rabbit because rabbits must be in pairs!" But other people say it's okay for him to be a single rabbit. I'm confident in saying he is happy and we have definitely bonded, but am I doing the right thing? ,

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Rabbits can do well on their own if bonded to a person and with plenty of enrichment in their enclosure. As an unneutered male, Blackberry may be aggressive towards another rabbit, and they may fight. I hope this helps!
