My dog has new firm lumps on breast and near vagina. Is it cancer?

There is no way to tell if a lump in the mammary gland is cancer or benign with out a fine needle aspirate (which still may not tell you 100%) or removing the mass and biopsying it. Mammary gland infections are rare. The smaller the mass the more likely it’s benign. Spaying a dog before too many heat cycles has proven to protect against mammary cancer in dogs. Some dogs can have a larger amount of fat and glandular tissue that is normal and nothing to be concerned about. However, this could be a primary mammary mass that needs further testing. Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. It is difficult to say for sure what these tumors are just by looking at photos. However, that being said, the light pink mass I would suspect to be benign / non-cancerous and it looks like what we call a sebaceous adenoma. The dark purple mass looks a little more suspicious for a malignant / cancerous mass. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine both to be on the safe side. The vet can insert a small needle into both masses and look at their cells under the microscope, a test called a Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA). I hope this helps guide you in the right direction!
