Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 4 years old | 82 lbs

Henry had a little bump for about a month now & He is very sensitive when I touch the bump located at the rear left leg. He start limping a little while walking on the floor & seemed to have pain when I touched the bump on the leg. The size of the bump reduced to 3/4 of it's original size after one month. He still can run & jump in the back yard very fast but not with the snow on the ground now ! Please let me know what should I do to take care this bump for him ? Thanks !

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be a benign or malignant growth. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Good luck and have a good day!
