Why is my blind cat breathing fast and sneezing after a cold?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed

My cat is 6 years old. She got blind last month suddenly and had mouth infection and hard breathing two weeks ago. I brought her to vet, vet diagnosed that she had cold. We gave her some medicine and apparently she is recovering from the cold. However, I notice that she breath fast sometimes and sneezing these two days. Her nose is dry. Is this a serious issue? Thanks

Mimi's increased breathing rate is a concern to me as this can indicate more serious respiratory disease like pneumonia or heart disease. I'd recommend bringing Mimi back to your veterinarian so she can have X-rays taken to ensure she does not have a serious issue with her lungs or heart. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and I hope Mimi recovers quickly!
