My 6-month-old Siamese kitten doesn't meow. Is this normal for the breed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Male | neutered | 6 months and 8 days old | 9 lbs

My kittens are six months old, and only one sort of meows. The other is completely silent. I only found out he had a voice at the vet and I’m sure it wasn’t polite. But he doesn’t meow for anything. Perhaps not strange for the average, but he’s Siamese!

I would not worry if Sagan doesn't have a voice all the time. Yes, siamese cats can be very vocal but there could always be that one that isn't. They can also have a raspy meow. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
